Compete with our team. Join our family. Become a MockStar.

We can’t wait to meet you!

Detailed tryout info will be posted in early September. In the meantime, make sure to fill out our interest form.

WE WANT NEBS.

WE WANT NEBS.

Each year, between four and eight Prospective New MockStars (PNMs) are invited to be our Nebs (what we call new members for the first year). With our ‘25s graduated, we are looking for our newest class of Nebs in 25F!

We want to meet the real you! Our team comes from over 13 states, majors in the humanities and the sciences, went to public and private high schools, and has varsity athletes and theater stars. There is no mold to conform to. Just space for you to fill in your own way.

What are we looking for from you?

You can try out as an attorney or a witness. This does not guarantee a certain role if you are invited to join the team, but rather gives you the opportunity to choose a role you are most comfortable trying out in. We will provide more details over email (make sure you’ve filled out our interest form) and at the info session, but here is what you can expect from tryouts this year:

Witnesses will give a 2-3 minute monologue (from a movie, tv show, musical, or speech of your choice). It can be dramatic, funny, serious—whatever you want. You will also be cross-examined as a witness from the case introduced at the info session. Lastly, you’ll be given an impromptu question to respond to on the spot.

Attorneys will write and deliver an opening statement and cross-examination based on the case from the info session. We’ll provide examples of both, but don’t worry too much about format - we care more about your performance. You will also get an impromptu question to respond to on the spot.

FAQ:

Is memorization required?

Nope! All parts are memorized for actual competition, but we understand that you have limited time to prepare for tryouts. What we are looking for is strong presence and delivery, regardless of whether you are reading from notes.

Is there a dress code for tryouts?

Again, no! Wear whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and confident to perform.

What if I can’t attend the information session?

We highly recommend attending, as we will be providing important information on the tryouts process and what being part of the team is like, but inability to attend does not bar you from trying out! All of the necessary materials to prepare for tryouts will be released by email, so just make sure you have filled out our interest form and are on the email list. Feel free to reach out to us directly with any questions or concerns!

We are looking forward to welcoming the ‘29s to campus and meeting all of you! ‘Til then!
