Dartmouth Mock Trial Bids to ORCS!

On February 3rd and 4th, the Dartmouth Mock Trial Society sent two teams to compete in the Chestnut Hill Regional Tournament, hosted by Boston College.

Both teams—Orion and Pegasus—competed against nationally ranked teams from other New England schools, such as Harvard, Tufts, Amherst, and Northeastern. After two days of tough competition, Orion emerged with the 3rd highest record of all teams present—7 to 1—earning them a bid to the next round of competition: the Open Round Championship Series. There, Orion will be vying for a bid to the National Tournament in the Spring.

Pegasus also held their own against tough competition, emerging with a record of 3.5 to 4.5 after squaring up against the #1 ranked team in the country and tying a ballot with an otherwise undefeated team. For Pegasus seniors Meghana Kopparthi, Margaret Bone, Olivia Rateau, and Sebastian Fernandez, this Regionals was their last competition as members of the team. We want to thank them for their time on Dartmouth Mock Trial—and hope to see them at team socials throughout the Spring term.

The team’s excellent performance was led by outstanding members: Uma Misha '26 and Grace Schwab '24 took home ‘Outstanding Witness Awards.’ Margaret Edmonds '27 was the highest-ranked trial attorney at the competition, and took home an ‘Outstanding Attorney Award.’

Orion is currently gearing up for ORCS, which will take place from March 16th to March 17th at Xavier University in Cincinnati. They have been preparing with an intense schedule of practice trials, scrimmages, and workshops with practicing attorneys and sitting judges. No members of the team could be reached for comment about their practices—but they have been kept as late as 11:15 while they prepare to fight for a spot at Nationals.

Dartmouth Mock Trial is proud of our success so far and will be cheering on Orion as they continue on the #RoadToNationals!
