NEW NEBS ALERT!

Earlier this week, Dartmouth Mock Trial welcomed a brand new class of Nebs to the team!

After months of waiting, we got finally ‘em! This year’s tryouts were some of the most competitive yet. We welcomed them to the team with a breakfast of Lou’s pastries and slideshows featuring their most memorable moments from tryouts. Now, it’s time for the world to meet them!

Dartmouth Mock Trial is thrilled to introduce our newest class of Nebs!

Frankie Paulson ‘26

Frankie (she/her) is from Redding, CA—where she was a star on her high school Mock Trial team! She hasn’t decided on a major yet, but she’s interested in studying History, Gov, English, and Education while balancing a student job (she’s still on the hunt for the perfect position). Here on campus Frankie’s favorite spot to relax is her dorm, but she also loves to spend time outdoors! She’s a big fan of reading, writing, and watching movies, and her B-side superpower would be to never have a bad hair day ever again—although as long as we’ve known her we haven’t seen her hair looking any less than flawless. What excites Frankie the most about Mock Trial is the supportive community it provides, and we wholeheartedly agree.

Carlo Guerrini-Maraldi ‘26

Carlo (he/him) is from London, England, and we are so glad he journeyed all the way across the Atlantic to join the Mock family! He’s as put together as his killer outfits—Carlo already knows he wants to double major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics and English with a French Minor. Fittingly, he’s a board member of Fashion Etc. as well as a double-threat actor and director with Displaced Theatre Company. He’s also part of Tamid Consulting and is interested in joining Club Tennis and a dance group. By day Carlo loves to read and visit galleries with friends, by night you’ll find him on the dance floor. His B-side superpower would be to tailor clothes with his bind, and his real life abilities of figure skating and free-style dancing. He’s also been told he has a killer walk, which we can confirm is true. For his first season of Mock, he’s looking forward to crushing the competition beyond recovery :)

Margaret Edmonds ‘27

Margaret (she/her) is from Atlanta, GA where she stole the show in all of her high school Mock Trial competitions. She’s interested in Government, Classical Studies, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies—popular subjects among many Mockstars! Aside from being a Mock weapon, Margaret’s talents include Irish dancing and singing the whole countries of the world song. In her free time she loves to write music, go thrifting, and crochet! On campus you might find her on 3FB or at Dartmouth Political Union events. For her B-side super power, she would choose the ability to parallel park perfectly (wouldn’t we all). Margaret can’t wait to dive into both the community and competitive aspects of Mock!

Marina Cascini ‘27

Marina (she/her) is from Utica, NY where she was her team’s lead attorney, so it’s no surprise we just had to have her join Dartmouth Mock Trial. She wants to major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics with a minor in International Relations, a topic she’s interested in exploring with Model UN. When she’s not venturing into the woods with Cabin and Trail or the Archery team, she loves to watch Gilmore Girls (a common favorite among MockStars!) and Seinfeld, listen to music, and random record stores with friends. Her B-side superpower would be the ability to cry on command, although after seeing her acting talent as a witness, we’re sure she could learn this skill in no time. Her talents also include singing, military marching and commanding—perks of being an ROTC kid. She is super excited to form incredible bonds with her new Mock family, and we are already so attached to her!

Benjamin Spears ‘27

Ben (also affectionately known as Spearsy) (he/him) is from Mill Valley, CA and plans to major in History with a minor in Economics. He has always valued the academic enrichment and competitive outlet that comes with Mock, and can’t wait to try it out at the college level—and we can’t wait to see him absolutely kill it in the courtroom! Outside of Mock, he plans to join Club Ski, explore finance with DIPP, and do some cycling. Ben is a big fan of the Philly Eagles (hot take) and listening to Bruce Springsteen’s music (valid take) and would love a B-side superpower of being able to watch sports games live with no ads. His special talents include being able to name every U.S. president in order and knowing the capital of every state, which we will definitely be putting to the test at our next Mock social.

Matthew Monroe ‘27

Matthew is from Ormond Beach, FL and intends to major in Chemistry or Biology, but he’s also got a creative side! In addition to putting on a captivating performance on the witness stand, he’s also an avid painter and reader. On campus, Matthew contributes to the Admissions Blog, Displaced Theater Company, and is active in the DOC. If he had a B-side superpower it would be to control noise levels with his mind, like muting a room if it's too loud. Although we think his mere presence as an actor is enough to make a room fall silent! As a witness on Mock, he can’t wait to step into a new, fun character that he gets to build from the ground up! We hear that he’s also an incredible tap dancer—we will definitely be conspiring on how to weave that into his witness characters.

Julia Allos ‘27

Julia is from Nashville, TN so it’s no surprise her presence as an attorney is full of equal parts Southern charm and room-commanding authority! In addition to Mock she’s looking to get involved in the Dartmouth Newspaper and the Dartmouth Political Union. She’s got a wide range of interests and plans to study Computer Science, Education, Government, and Public Policy—continuing the legacy of MockStars bridging the STEM-Humanities divide! She loves to read, hangout with friends, and play the piano—a talent she thinks isn’t that fun but which we consider insanely impressive (hoping for some Mock exclusive recitals). She is most excited about the amazing community that Mock Trial provides, and can’t wait to reminisce on all the future-past memories we are to create together this year.

Here they are at their first new member orientation. With these Nebs, Dartmouth Mock Trial is sure to have its most successful season yet!
