Election Results are in! This year the Mock Trial executive board looks a little different.

In Spring of 2023, the Dartmouth Mock Trial Society collectively decided to implement a constitutional change that would restructure the team’s leadership model.

After team-wide discussion and several rounds of voting, we decided on two major changes:

  1. With a final 19-4 vote, the team decided to replace the existing leadership model (1 President, 1 Vice President, 1 Director of Membership, 1 Director of Tournament Logistics, 1 Director of Communications per term) with the new Program Captains Model. Future executive boards will consist of 1 President, 2 Program Captains, 1 Director of Membership, 1 Director of Tournament Logistics, and 1 Director of Communications per term. A member can only hold 1 position at a time.

  2. The Elected Winter Captains Amendment also passed with 18-5 votes. This means that next Winterim, after Program Captains have divided members into our two competitive teams, Orion and Pegasus, the whole team will vote to elect two captains to lead Pegasus throughout the winter. Fall captains will now be appointed by the Program Captains.

We believe that this model, developed and implemented with the input of the whole team, will enable a more balanced distribution of responsibility among leadership and benefit both the competitive success and wellbeing of Dartmouth Mock Trial. With that said, we are excited to introduce our Executive Board for the 2023-2024 season:

  • Sebastian Fernandez ‘24

    • President

  • Paige Pattison ‘24

    • Program Captain

  • Kavya Nivarthy ‘25

    • Program Captain (Winter)

  • Ben Wilkins ‘24

    • Director of Membership

  • Neha Bhardwaj ‘26

    • Director of Tournament Logistics

  • Rachel Roncka ‘26

    • Director of Communications (Fall)

  • Carter Anderson ‘26

    • Director of Communications (Winter)

Soon after results were confirmed, the new execs convened to discuss the team’s goals for the year ahead. Heading into the Fall, the board’s top priorities include continuing the now annual tradition of Mock Trial Pre-Season, expanding outreach during recruitment, improving new member education, optimizing use of funding and resources, and organizing more scrimmages/invitationals with other schools prior to Regionals. The new execs are confident that focusing on these areas of improvement will give the team an edge in our journey to Nationals this season!
