WE HAVE NEBS!

Seven new Nebs joined the team on September 22nd after three days of tryouts!

From left to right: Uma Misha ‘26, Anna Chabica ‘25, Neha Bhardwaj ‘26, Carter Anderson ‘26, Gideon Gruel ‘26, Rachel Roncka ‘26, and Kavya Nivarthy ‘25.

After three days of tryouts and over sixty potential new members later, The Dartmouth Mock Trial Society welcomed its newest Nebs class! The eclectic group of ‘25s and ‘26s hail from all over the country, some with prior Mock experience and some ready to dive right in. They began their Dartmouth Mock careers with team breakfast, later having an introductory session with the Executive Board, a team dinner, and a whole society practice. Current MockStars were similarly enthused for the welcoming of the newest members to the team, ensuring the Nebs had the warmest of welcomes to the team. We are so excited for you to meet our 2022 Nebs class!!!

First up is Uma.

Uma Misha is a ‘26 from sunny Los Gatos, CA. She is currently undecided on her major, but is leaning toward majoring in Cognitive Science. Uma is excited to make a crossing attorney cry (role reversal!) and even MORE excited to spend time with all her new teammates. In her free time, she enjoys watching godawful sci-fi/fantasy tv shows, skiing, trying new foods, and going down Wikipedia rabbit holes. Aside from Mock Trial (the best club on campus), she wants to join Ledyard and potentially a dance group. If Uma could pick a B-side superpower, she would want to know every lyric to every song ever. If we could pick an A-side superpower, we’d want to be just like Uma.

Next up is Anna.

Anna Chabica ‘25 hails from Maple Grove, Minnesota and is pursuing degrees in Environmental Studies and Middle Eastern Studies. She’s very excited to get to know everyone on Dartmouth Mock and we cannot wait to get to know her better! Outside of Mock, Anna is involved with Ledyard, Growing Change, and Club Swim. She also loves scrapbooking, kayaking, and reading. Her dream B-side superpower would be to never have to read or send an email again.

Third is Neha.

Neha Bhardwaj is a ‘26 from Irvine, CA (now our second Irvine resident on the team!). She wants to major in Computer Science or Quantitative Social Science and is jazzed about getting to know her new Dartmouth Mock teammates – “really cool people who get just as hyped as I do for nerd activities.” Aside from Mock, Neha loves crocheting, reading, and watching her friends cook (and eating everything they cook for her after). She’s also involved in Data Visualization for The Dartmouth and has the unique ability to fall into deep sleep immediately. We just discovered our own unique ability to fall deeply in love with Neha immediately.

Following Neha, we have Carter.

Carter Anderson is a ‘26 from Blaine, Minnesota. He’s majoring in Computer Science and/or Government (oh boy! Another Government major on Mock Trial!?). He can’t wait to get to know and love everyone on the team and we already know we love him! Besides Mock Trial, Carter is involved with the Dartmouth Political Union and the Club Ski team. He also enjoys reading, watching TV, and Geoguessr. If he could have any B-side superpower, he would want to not have to wait for the elevator to arrive.

After Carter, we have Gideon…

…and his yerba mate!

Gideon M. Gruel is a ‘26 from Pocatella, Idaho. Gideon wants to major in Philosophy and Classics and is very excited to spend a lot of time with the Dartmouth Mock community because we’re “a bunch of smart, fun people!” When he’s not doing Mock Trial, you can catch Gideon drinking yerba mate, playing golf and pickleball, and learning languages. He’s also involved with the Dartmouth Law Journal, Apologia, Latter-day Saint Student Association, Dartmouth Minority Pre-Law Association, and the DOC. His dream B-side superpower would be a “Disney Parks FastPass, but for like every line.” We’re not quite sure what that is but we know we love Gideon!!

Next, we have Rachel.

Rachel Roncka is a ‘26 from Boston, MA (don’t even think of asking her if she’s from JOB). Rachel hopes to major in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and minor in Classics. She’s excited for the Dartmouth Mock traditions and community… and she can’t wait to write some BRUTAL crosses. When not scaring witnesses half to death with her crosses, Rachel likes to sketch, read, binge shows, and get boba. She’s also involved in Women in Law and Politics, Great Issues Scholars, The Dartmouth’s Arts section, and hopes to play an intramural sport. Rachel’s B-side superpower is being able to handle any level of spiciness. We don’t think you can handle her level of spiciness.

And last, but certainly not least, is Kavya.

Kavya Nivarthy ‘25 hails from Florham Park, NJ and is planning to major in Economics and Chinese. Kavya is excited to join the Mock Trial community, where she can’t wait to argue and use her incredible public speaking skills (trust us, she rocks)! Outside the (mock) courtroom, she is a big fan of running, reading, and keeping up with politics. Her other on-campus involvements include serving as Treasurer for the Dartmouth Political Union, writing for the opinion section of The Dartmouth, and working at the Rockefeller Center. Kavya’s B-side superpower is that she can be serious whenever she wants. Well… all we know is we’re seriously obsessed with Kavya.

We hope you enjoyed meeting our Nebs as much as we did! We are SO excited to see what this season has in store for us!
